EXPERIMENTING ON ANIMALS ????

The use of animals for scientific research is a controversial topic. Some people say that it is necessary to test if the products or medicines have allergic reactions and bad sides effects while others claim it isn't necessary to experiment on animals since it si torture and mistreatment.

The most important advantage of using animals for scientific research is that testing on animals, we can be more accurate when deducing what effects one precise medicine will have on human beings.

The main disadvantage of this is the side effects which scientific research has on animals as most of them die in laboratories after being long locked and tortured. Furthermore, they might not work in the end.

Finally, all things considered, I think the use of animals for scientific is something unnecessary that kills innocent lives and it is not pleasant.

WORLD CARFREE DAY !!!

Each year,  people in over 1,500 cities in 40 countries celebrate World Carfree Day. This annual event aims to raise awareness of the problems caused by our dependence on private cars. Streets are closed to traffic and opened instead to street parties, theatre, bicycle demonstrations or outdoor cafés, in order to show people what their city might look like if there were fewer or no cars. Over one hundred million people are believed to take part in the celebrations, although this figure is difficult to verify.

The hope is that the initiative will encourage more environmentally friendly alternatives to the car,  such as walking, cycling and public transport. However , with increasing global car production and a world which has grown used to the benefits of private transport, some say the battle is already lost. But even if we are unlikely to see cities without any cars at all, people may at least begin to change their habits and leave their car at home more often. (by V.R.)

TERUEL EXISTS.... AND PEOPLE SHOWED IT IN ZARAGOZA.

LAST SUNDAY, WE ALL WANT ON A DEMO IN ZARAGOZA ... FOR THE REMINDING OF THE EXISTENCE OF ALL THOSE VILLAGES IN THE COUNTY OF TERUEL WHICH WERE ABANDONED BY YOUNG PEOPLE AT DIFFERENT TIMES BECAUSE OF LACK OF WORK OF A DREAMT AMBITION TO GET A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE.

NOW, WE REALIZE THAT ONE DAY, THEY MIGHT DISAPPEAR IF WE DON'T DO SOMETHING TO STOP IT .... OR SOMETHING TO ENCOURAGE THE ACTIVATION OF THEM ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

SO, EVERYONE WAS THERE CARRYING THE BANNER OF THEIR OWN VILLAGE, EXCEPT ME, WHO HAD THREE RATHER THAN ONE, REPRESENTING MY TWO FRIENDS WHO WOULDN'T COME THAT DAY.

KINDERGARTEN SOCIAL COMPETENCE AFFECTS FUTURE WELLNESS

The Relationship between Kindergarten Social Competence and Future Wellness

We examined whether kindergarten teachers' ratings of children’s prosocial skills, an indicator of noncognitive ability at school entry, predict key adolescent and adult outcomes.
We found statistically significant associations between measured social-emotional skills in kindergarten and key young adult outcomes across multiple domains of education, employment, criminal activity, substance use, and mental health.

Understanding what early characteristics predict future outcomes could be of great value in helping children develop into healthy adults. In recent years, much research has been directed toward understanding noncognitive traits in children that may increase the likelihood of healthy personal development and eventual adult well-being. For predicting future success in the workplace, levels of cognitive ability measured through IQ or test scores alone are less predictive than measures of educational attainment, which require not just cognitive ability but also noncognitive characteristics such as self-discipline, academic motivation, and interpersonal skills. Future likelihood of committing crimes is greatly influenced by noncognitive processes in development, such as externalizing behaviour, social empathy, and effectively regulating emotions. A recent study found that noncognitive ability in the form of self-control in childhood was predictive of adult outcomes ranging from physical health to crime or substance abuse.

Inadequate levels of social and emotional functioning are increasingly recognized as central to many public health problems (e.g., substance abuse, obesity, violence). Just as researchers study how academic achievement in a population can lift groups out of poverty, public health scientists are now studying how these noncognitive factors affect health and wellness across domains.
