ZOOS (????)

ZOOS: GOOD OR BAD?

BY CANDELA NAVARRO- CIE

Zoos are locations where exotic and wild animals are kept, which can be visited by humans. If I had to name the main characteristics of zoos, I would list the advantages and disadvantages.

On the one hand,  we have the positive aspects. For instance,  zoos are places where you can have fun, however, most importantly, they have the function of educating. Visiting these centers, you can learn about the great biodiversity the Earth has to offer and understand how to respect it. Moreover, zoos are locations where experts investigate the behavior of different animals and how they react in specific situations. In addition, these areas are helpful for the preservation of species which are near extinction. On the other hand, there are lots of negative aspects regarding zoos. Firstly, a great amount of these areas do not have the correct hygiene conditions to accommodate animals. Besides, the animals are not able to develop all their surviving skills due to the fact that they are not in their natural habitat. Furthermore, animals have to suffer the presence of people who bother them.

In conclusion, zoos have negative and positive aspects, and we should focus on improving the negative ones to make animals feel comfortable while we learn about them.
