BYE TO MARADONA !!!

His last years - and in particular his last days - were plagued with health problems. But despite this, the news of the death of Diego Armando Maradona, due to acute heart failure caused a shock in Argentina.

That shock reveals the divine status that the soccer stars had in his home country, where his supporters nicknamed him "D10S" after the famous number on his jersey.

Gone are the many controversies that Maradona aroused throughout his life, from his friendship with questioned leaders such as Venezuelan Nicolás Maduro and Cuban Fidel Castro (who coincidentally died the same day, in 2016), to his excesses with food, drugs, alcohol and women.

This Wednesday, most Argentines seem to have erased, at least momentarily, the memory of that controversial Maradona of recent years and, instead of that, what is experienced is a kind of national catharsis around the figure of the "Ten". (BY MAIDER LALAGUNA- ADM 3)

A CATALAN TRIED THE PFIZER VACCINE !!!!

VOLUNTEERS ARE TRYING THE VACCINE IN THE USA

(BY IRENE CALVO FROM ADM3)

Miquel Fernández, a Catalan resident of the Oklahoma city

of Norman, is among 43,000 volunteers who have tried the

Pfizer vaccine.

Clinical trial advances in the United States, as the rest of

the world considers how to store the vaccine and keep it in

the ultra-cold temperature conditions it requires. Its creator,

Ugur Sahin, anticipates that the return to normal will come

"by the middle of the year". But how will our body react

when we receive the vaccine?

Fernandez explains that the day after the vaccine was given

, "she had symptoms as if she had the flu. Fever,

widespread discomfort and tiredness, as he stated in an

interview with Rac1, "lasted about five hours."

VILLAGE OR CITY??

VILLAGE OR CITY ?? (BY RAQUEL G.)

I'm writing about  WHETHER if it's better to live in a small village or in a big city. Most people live in a big city, nowadays, depopulation is a problem today in our country that the governments are trying to fix with differents actions.

I am going to give my point of view telling you advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, in the village you live less stress and more calm however, you have less basicbasics services like doctors, police, supermarkets, shoppings… for example. On the one hand, in the village all the people know each other, there is more familiarity so that children can go by the Street alone without danger but on the other hand, if you don't like the loneliness in the city it's easier to meet with friends and family that almost all of them are living there. Living in the village you have more freedom of space and movement, you can enjoy nature like mountains, rivers, natural pools, animals… although in the city you can do cultural tourism and visit museums, monuments, cathedrals… Moreover, you have other types of leisure such as: goING  to the cinema, theaters, restaurants, concerts…

In conclusion, in my case,  I prefer livINGe in the city because I have all that I need and there IS are more leisure but I Iike GOING very much to go TO THE at village A LOT  TO for disconnect , in fact,  I think there is A better quality of life. (BY

MY FAVOURITE FILM IS ..........

 E.T. “THE ALIEN”

I like GOING to go to the cinema but I don't usually watch a lot of movies because I prefer to go out with friends or family. Anyway there is a movie that I always remember and it is “E.T. The Alien”. It's my favourite childhood movie.

When I was a child I watched this movie and I loved it fromsince that moment. I had it on VHS and I watched it two or three times a week. At first I watched it with my mother or my father because I was scared but then I got to see it alone. I loved it because the film deals with themes such as friendship and solidarity. Further, E. T. I seemed  very strange but at the same time very kind.

In conclusión, I recommend watching the film for both adults and children because it talks about values like respect, friendship and solidarity between different. people.

BARS AND RESTAURANTS IN COVID CRISIS

Spain prepares support package to aid bars and restaurants hit by coronavirus crisis

(BY PILAR ARIZA- ADM 3)

The plan has become increasingly urgent as Spain’s regions introduce new restrictions to contain the second wave of the pandemic – many of which affect the sector.

In Asturias, Castilla y León, Navarre, Murcia, Galicia and Catalonia, the entire hostelry industry has been shut down, while in Andalusia, bars and restaurants must end table service by 6pm; in Aragon, they close at 8pm

Other measures, such as the nighttime curfew have also hurt businesses in the hostelry industry.

IMMIGRANTS IN THE CANARY ISLANDS

Spain will set up emergency camps for up to 7,000 migrants as part of a plan to tackle the huge influx of arrivals in the Canary Islands, the government said Friday.

The plan also involves reinforcing Salvamento Maritimo's coastguard rescue teams in the area, alongside a diplomatic offensive as part of a concerted push to address the crisis in the holiday islands where more than 12,000 people have landed since September.

Migration Minister Jose Luis Escriva unveiled the details at a news conference in Gran Canaria after talks with regional officials who want urgent government action given the saturation of the islands' migrant services

THE BEST SUMMER I’VE EVER HAD !!!

THE BEST SUMMER I’VE EVER HAD (by Patricia A.)

Last March, Covid-19 came into our lives and absolutely everything changed.
After the quarantine no one was excited about summer as it seemed
boring and unexciting. Nevertheless, it was not like we thought it would.

Firstly, I started my summer going everyday to an activity program to exercise.
We played lots of sports, such as badminton, cycling, volleyball or table tennis.
It was so enjoyable due to the fact that I was doing that with friends and
we really had a good time laughing and training. Moreover, in July I went to
my house at the beach, in Roda de Bàra, Tarragona. Every morning we woke up,
had breakfast and put our swimsuits on and went to the beach. Besides, every night
I went out with my cousin and we met new people, but always wearing masks
and keeping distance. They were two fantastic and relaxing weeks. However,
the best part of my summer was in August when I went to my village, Casasana.
It’s a very small town in Guadalajara, but I really love it. I was always outside and
I only returned home to lunch, dinner and sleep. I have lots of friends there,
both younger and older. We hung out playing cards and fooling around. I was
also taught to play Poker and I actually love it!

It was a really incredible summer, despite the Covid situation. If someone
had told me that Summer 2020 was going to be the best I’ve ever had, I
wouldn’t have believed it.

MY GRANDMOTHER, MY REFERENCE PERSON

My grandmother, my reference person. (by P.N.)

What could be more wonderful than having a reference person in your life?

My grandmother was born in 1944, she got married and had three sons and three daughters.  As she lived under laws of Francisco Franco, her behaviour in all aspects of her life has been very influenced by the closed mentality of dictatorship. She always says to me that creating a family was all that her relatives expected from her. Despite of that fact, she always imagines how different her life would have been if she had lived her youth nowadays: she could have had an independent life, have worn clothes she liked, have travelled to many places and have said what she thought without fear of reprisals; in short, she would like to be the only owner of her own life. She admires the role of women in the world today and she learns and opens her mind each day. Nevertheless, she´s very grateful for having had love and health throughout her whole life and she feels happy to see us grow up as healthy, strong and good people. She's the most comprehensive, empathetic, close and friendly person I know.

In conclusion, I adore my grandmother, it is said that all depends on perspective: the glasses with which we see reality and she has several spare glasses in order to put herself in each other's shoes and help them. She’s a wonderful woman.

GENETIC ENGINEERING

GENETIC ENGINEERING ( BY C. BAREA)

Although I’m not a scientist, I think that genetic engineering, like many other things that affect people and their improvement and well-being, has pros and cons.

On the one hand, by modifying the genes, crops -corn or tomatoes for example- are actually more productive and resistant to disease, but on the other hand, vegetables, and animals as well, seem tothat have less nutritional value than unmodified natural products. Furthermore, this kind of food can help to reduce hunger in the world, but, at the same time they can make certain viruses and bacteria stronger and more dangerous for people.

BESIDES, These products have arrived into our lives to stay with us. However, in my opinion, when engineering genetic concerns the human being, whether with the development of drugs or clinical therapies, very important ethical aspects rise. So, some people even believe that these advances are like playing. No one should decide how smart a child should be or not even his eyes colour. It’s very difficult to put limits on what we can do or not do, and, even more, when private industries could use it to increase their profits instead of improving people’s health.

In conclusion, genetic engineering obviously has advantages and benefits, but also big risks if we don’t use it ethically.

DARK FUTURE IN 2050

DARK FUTURE IN 2050, IF HUMANITY DOESN’T LEARN

TO RESPECT

To begin, I think we would be in time to change this dark future if people were able to understand the importance of climate change in our lives. In addition, we have to sum up this challenge, the pandemic and the economic crisis that we are suffering and that will stand with us for a lot of years.

First of all, a very important point, is we need to learn to live with nature without destroying it. Our planet is our home, and we are filling our home with rubbish. For human beings, money is more important than nature, for this reason, leaders of many parts of the world, don’t doubt if they have to destroy priceless environments like Amazonas or if they have to waste Africa's material resources. For all this uncontrolled development we are ending with irreplaceable natural resources such as petroleum. Secondly, if people don’t learn to respect the norms, we will spend much more  time and economic resources, even more lives in the fight against COVID and the recuperation will be more difficult.

In conclusion, I think the keyword for a better future is respect: respect the environment, respect other forms of life, respect our planet and the norms. IF I WERE YOU, I WOULD RESPECT THE RULES.

HALLOWEEN STORY........

( BY CRISTINA RIVAS FROM 2 CIE)

ONCE UPON A TIME THERE WAS A GIRL WHO HAD VISIONS. At first, she didn’t tell anyone but as time went by, she began to see horrible things, and moreover, she was starting to be afraid since all her visions came true.

Everything startedone Winter night when the 14 year-old girl was walking her dog near her house. She Heard sounds coming from the cemetery and as she liked to investigate she went there. The interesting thing was when she entered the cemetery, she saw headstones from graves open. At that very momento, she wanted to run away from that place but something didn’t let her do it. She was missing for three years, and when they finally found her, she could see what was going to happen to other people, through her inner visions. Of course, they were always scary things, she could see ghosts, souls and some voices telling her things inside her brain.

In the end, as timmed passed, she realized that visions only came true if she told them. Therefore, she couldn’t spend any longer with the visions kicking in her head and unfortunately, she decided to commit suicide.

THE BEST INVENTION? DIFFICULT TO SAY !!!

       Difficult choice (By R.F. )

There are many important inventions and discoveries throughout history.

However, it is hard to choose which is the best one.

One of the first discoveries was the fire 1,6 million years ago.  It was very

useful due to the fact that primitive humans achieved to cook the food

and to protect from cold and wild animals.  In my opinion, it was a great step

for Humanity. Alexander Fleming discovered Penicillin in 1928 and so,

millions of lives were saved. Nowadays, this one is still used. Besides,

there are many inventions that have helped to improve people's lives

such as, the Wheel in 3500 a.c., the light bulb by Thomas Edison in 1987,

the phone by Antonio Meucci in 1854, the automobile by Carl Benz in 1886,

the mop by Manuel Jalon Corominas in 1964 and many more.

In short, every country should support research to improve people's lives.

Currently, everyone is waiting for the discovery of an effective vaccine

against coronavirus, so we could have a life like before.  Therefore,

in my point of view, it is the best discovery.

NIGHT HORRORS

 NIGHT HORRORS

Last week I was talking to my father about dreams and nightmares. He often has insomnia. It's very difficult for him to fall asleep at night. Let me tell you about a terrible dream he had last night.

In father's dream, he was growing vegetables in his garden when suddenly, appeared a lot of snakes across his property. He was so scared that he started running away from one place to another. Moreover, he couldn't see anything. In fact, it was very dark so he was walking along the road into a strange house...when he began hearing some horrible laughs and whispers. He couldn't breathe very well...It was that place a hospital? Until he woke up screaming!

Many people think it's a good idea to sleep for a short time in the afternoon. However, I think that if my father didn't take a nap, he'd feel sleepy and he could sleep better, Maybe he shouldn't be  watching the news about “Coronavirus” and staying up late!
