ESCAPING FROM SLAVERY....

SCAPING FROM SLAVERY   by Iris, Natalia and Lucía

It was the 3rd of April of 1860, they took me to be their slave. I stayed 10 horribles years there being a slave until I decided to escape, but it was very difficult because there was one security man named Rok Wilson. He was always in front of the slave's room .

One night, I talked with my friends slaves about how I will want to escape. Then we slept. The next day in the morning,  I was alone, my friends escaped without  me and I don't know how they escaped and where they went, I only knew that I wanted to escape.

Two weeks later, at night, I was thinking how I could  escape , when I heard  "knock knock" in the window . There were my friends knocking in the window. They gave me  some plants and they  didn't  say me to me anything, because Rok Winson was arriving. I stayed two nights  thinking what  I would do with those plants. When I arrived to the conclusion that  I can use them to do  a sleep potion. All night during one week I put  things  in  the  potion  until it was finished.

That night  I broke my T-shirt  and I put   the potion  on  it, then  I opened  the door  quickly  and I put  it in  the  face  of  the security man. I took  his  knife. I ran  very quickly and I killed  the chief  because he tried to trap me, then  I ran  to  the  forest   because  I didn't  know   where  to  go , but  I was   free .

-WHY ARE YOU HERE?  My friends  were there and they knew  that I will escape  and I will go with them.

PRIVATE SCHOOLS BY NATALIA VILLALBA- 2 BTO

Private schools are allowed to expel students and can choose not to allow certain students admission. In fact, many private schools are difficult to get into. Public schools allow all students, regardless of religious creed, academic abilities, or any other factor.

Sending your child to a private school means enrollment is selective and demands are uniformly higher versus a public school where they will be exposed to a wider variety of people and abilities. In today's world, both are likely to incorporate students from various cultures and backgrounds.
In most areas, your children will attend public school with other kids from the same area. However, a number of provinces are moving toward a policy where you can request a change if you desire.
When parents choose a private school, they often do so based on their desire to give their children a specific peer group, whether that is based on discipline, cultural or religious background, or philosophical beliefs.
In most private schools, students are excluded or expelled if they do not adhere to the school's policies or standards.

In my opinion if I were a parent, i need to decide for themself. Visit schools and see what the schools and teachers are like. We think the option of private school is a good one and gives parents alternatives they may want to pursue in finding the right education for their children.

CHAIME BERNAL IN THE USA !!

We are very happy to have some news from Chaime Bernal:

It has been 5 months and 15 days since I got here and the only thing I can say it's that time flies,
no one is conscious about it.

These months that I've been here are being just amazing. I cannot describe what I'm living, to live in such a different culture than yours is just AMAZING.
In spite of having a few hard times, (you're homesick, you can't adapt yourself to the place at the beginning...) you enjoy, you learn, you LIVE something that you will not live again.

So many new people, so many new friends, so many adventures... and the most important thing, the experience, the experience of being away of your home and make  Rockport, Massachussets my home.
If I had  to grade my exchange in 1 to 10 I'd say 11.

I will not live this experience again, that's why I'm taking advantage of every and single moment.

EL CLASICO BY CRISTIAN FROM ADM 3

Real Madrid went to Barcelona and got a 1-1 draw on Wednesday during the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal.

It was an early goal from Lucas Vazquez that gave Los Blancos the all-important away goal, as Malcolm equalized for Barca in the second half. Lionel Messi started this one on the bench but entered in the second half, causing a bit of trouble but Los Blancos' defense managed to hold on in a back-and-forth battle. Here's what to know:

Real will take this any day, especially with how inconsistent Los Blancos have been. They would have liked to get the win considering they didn't have to worry about Messi for the first hour, but it sets the team up well nicely for the second leg at the end of the month. Both teams had 11 shots, while three of Barca's went on frame to Real's two. But Real Madrid did enough, especially defensively.

The defenders, led by Raphael Varane, managed to time their tackles well and force Barca to take shots from outside the box.
Goalkeeper Keylor Navas came up with a huge save on Luis Suarez in the first half, and Real returns home with confidence.

FACTS WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT FOOD

5 ways the food you eat affects your brain  (VERUSKA LASHERAS ADM3 07/02/2019)

We asked a dietitian to explain how different foods, drinks and nutrients affect the brain,
including carbohydrates, probiotics, fats, caffeine and vitamins and minerals.
Ever wondered how the food you eat affects your grey matter? Although there are no
miracle 'brain foods' that can completely protect against age-related disorders such as
Alzheimer's or dementia, and there are many other medical conditions that can afecta the brain,
what you eat (and don't eat) can make make a difference when it comes to brain health and
function.

How do carbohydrates afecta the brain?

The brain only accounts for approximately 2% of our body weight, but it consumes almost 20%
of glucose-derived energy – meaning that nutrition is key for brain function.
Glucose forms the building blocks of carbohydrates and plays a role in the production of
serotonin in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is bidel aceptad to be responsible for
balancing mood and anxiety. The greatest source of energy for our brain comes from
carbohydrate such as wholegrains, vegetables, fruit, rice, potatoes and lactose (the sugar found
in in milk). These are considered healthy sources of carbohydrates that are broken down by the
body into glucose and then used by our brain to function. Without an adequate supply of
glucose, the brain cannot function correctly.

How do probiotics afecta the brain?

It is widely accepted that there is two-way communication between the gastrointestinal
tract and the central nervous system through biochemical signaling. This is sometimes referred
to as the 'gut-brain axis', describing the link between the cognitive and emotional areas of the
brain to our gut.
There has recently been a lot of interest in the role of probiotics, gut and brain function. Ir is
believed that probiotics change the processing of information in the gut that is strongly linked
to anxiety and depression. A small study involving 20 healthy participants found that, compared
to those taking a placebo, people who took a probiotic food supplement experienced fewer
negative thoughts associated with sad moods. A further small study showed that healthy
women who ate probiotic-rich yogurts for four weeks had a reduced emotional response when
shown photos of people who were fearful, angry or sad.
While these studies are certainly encouraging, they are limited in size and scope and further
studies are needed before we can draw any firm conclusions as to exactly how and why
probiotics might afecta mood.

How do fats afecta the brain?

Specific fats are very important to the brain as they are a key component in the structure of
cell membranes and they play a role in the structure and function of neurons. We know
that approximately 60% of the brain is made up of omega-3 fats with DHA, a type of omega-3
fat found in fish, being the main type, responsible for eye and mental development. Omega-3
fats found in olive oil, oily fish such as salmon, herring and sardines are essential for brain
development in the womb and early childhood. The majority of brain cells are developed before
birth, with the remaining being laid down in the first year of life. For this reason, omega-3 fats
are key during pregnancy and early childhood. There is also evidence to suggest dietary
deficiency in omega-3 fats can have an adverse effect on cognition. Also, a high intake of these
fats has been associated with a reduction in the development and progression of dementia.
Despite these encouraging results, cause and effect has yet to be definitively demonstrated –
so again, larger studies are needed before we can determine for sure the relationship between
fat intake and cognitive health.

How do vitamins and minerals afecta the brain?

B vitamins, vitamins C, D & E and magnesium are all essential in brain health and development.
Research shows that a diet rich in vitamins and minerals from fruit and vegetables is associated
with a lower risk of developing cognitive problems during aging. Thiamine and vitamin E in
particular are important for cells that transmit messages from the nerves, whilst B6, B12 and
vitamin C play an important role in how the nerves work and are formed. Magnesium, which
is found in avocados, spinach, brown rice and nuts, improves neural plasticity, meaning the
nerves are able to adapt and avoid damage. As a result, it may improve memory, help to fight
stress and depression and it's crucial for the production of energy and neurotransmitters.
Epidemiologic studies also show that consumption of vitamins and minerals is associated with
lower risk of developing cognitive deficits. The B vitamins and vitamins E, C, and D have all
been identified as playing important roles in maintaining normal brain function. Members of the
B vitamin family and vitamin C also are essential to energy production in the brain.
How does caffeine afecta the brain?
affeine is bidel aceptad to be one of the most commonly used psychoactive substances
worldwide that is found in a wide variety of foods and drinks. In small doses it is an ergogenic
aid (performance-enhancing substance) acting on the central nervous system to delay tiredness
and increase alertness. The caffeine found in tea may be beneficial for cognition in older adults,
but may be problematic for those who have trouble sleeping. Human epidemiologic
studies have reported better cognitive function amongst tea and coffee drinkers for years. A
recent meta-analysis evaluating the existing evidence of caffeine and health outcomes,
concluded that caffeine was consistently associated with a lower risk of Parkinson’s
disease, depression and cognitive disorders for Alzheimer’s disease. However, exactly how and
why this occurs is unclear from these studies.

THE THORNY DINOSAUR

The dinosaur discovered in Argentina that had a fan of giant spines to defend itself.

The fossils of Bajadasaurus were found in 2013 by researchers from the Félix de Azara Foundation and the Ernesto Bachmann Paleontological Museum in Villa El Chocón in Neuquén.

Bajadasaurus was a new type of specie. It measured nine meters of length and life in what is now Patagonia Argentina 140 million years ago.
They were herbivores and quadrupeds characterized by their large size and the length of their neck and tail.

The scientists have discovered that it had thorns on top of the vertebrae which sized 1,2 metres. The thorns were covered by a material that gave them strength.

BLACK FUTURE .....

BY DOMINIQUE  ADM 3

An asteroid might hit Earth on September 9th

Next September 9th, at 8:03 AM GMT there is a small chance of a meteorite colliding with Earth.
Even though the idea might seem frightening at first glance, experts believe it is not a serious concern, due to the low possibility of such a thing happening; it is stimated there is a 1 in 11,428 chance of impact.
The celestial body in question is called 2006 QV89, it travels at 44,000 kilometers per hour, and on the off chance it ends up hitting Earth, it would destroy around 2,000 square kilometers.
2006 QV89 places seventh on the list of the most potentially dangerous asteroids for Earth in the next hundred years, a catalog listing another eight hundred and fifteen celestial bodies with a chance to hit Earth at some point in the future.

NEWS FROM VENEZUELA

NEWS BY EDDI BORGES FROM ADM 3

Venezuela crisis:
Pompeo demands aid corridor opened
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has demanded Venezuela reopen a bridge on the Colombian border for an aid shipment organised by the opposition.
Venezuelan soldiers have blocked the crossing ahead of a delivery arranged by opposition leader Juan Guaidó, who has declared himself interim president.
President Nicolás Maduro, who has the support of the army, has rejected letting it into the country.

What is happening at the border?

The Venezuelan military had used a tanker truck and a cargo container to block access to the Tienditas bridge which links Cucuta, Colombia to Urena, Venezuela, opposition politician Franklyn Duarte told AFP news agency.
"Troops from the armed forces are blocking the pass", he said.
