RULES OF PERSUASION

RULES OF PERSUASION ( ANONYMOUS FROM 2ND BTO )

Nowadays, we are submitted by rules of persuasion. Even our own environment manipulates our decisions and influences our actions.  To show this, I am going to name some rules of persuasion.

On the one hand, I think that the most important one is ATHORITY rule. Sometimes we are convinced that those people who know a lot about a topic, they will always be right.  Although, we all make mistakes. My mother has authority over me and also, she always tells me to pay attention to the specialists because they are always right.  On the other hand, I like the SOCIAL PROOF because it shows how influential we are. Besides, this rule shows that we are guided by what the rest do, even if our opinion is contrary.

In conclusion, we aren’t free. Currently, there are things that make us think that we are free but rules of persuasion are part of our life.

1400 PREGNANT DOLPHINS DEAD !!!

MORE THAN 1400 DOLPHINS, INCLUDING PREGNANT FEMALE HAVE BEEN KILLED IN THE FEROE ISLANDS.

TRAVIS SCOTT CONCERT

Illinois families file lawsuit against Travis Scott, Live Nation

(BY RUBEN F. FROM ADM3)

Defendants egregiously failed in their duty to protect the health, safety, and lives of those in attendance at the concert, including but not limited to the failure to provide adequate security personnel to implement crowd control measures, proper barricades, and the failure to provide a sufficient amount of emergency medical support," the suit states. 8 people died.

The families of Jurinek and Patino are being represented by Chicago law firm Corboy & Demetrio, who filed the lawsuits earlier this week in Harris County Courts in Houston.

CHANEL MIGRANTS

SOCIETY:  Channel migrants: UK calls for smuggler crackdown after migrant deaths ( BY SENSI FROM ADM3)

The UK is determined to smash the "evil" business model of people traffickers, an immigration minister has said, after 27 people drowned crossing the Channel on Wednesday.

Kevin Foster said the UK, France and rest of Europe must tackle the problem together, following the biggest single loss of life in the Channel on record. A fifth person has been arrested in connection with the fatal crossing. Five women and a girl were among the dead, France's interior minister said. Gerald Darmanin also said two people had been rescued and one was missing. It was earlier reported 31 people had died, but the total was revised down overnight into Thursday

WORKERS AT DISNELAND COMPLAIN

Disneyland Brought By Cast Members May Be Over” ( BY JUDITH FROM ADM 3)

A judge has ruled in a lawsuit against Disneyland brought by many of the people who work there.

Back in August more than TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND current and former Disneyland cast members sued the California theme park over higher wages. The cast members claimed that they should all have received a raise to $15 per hour back in 2018, in accordance with a measure voted into law in the city of Anaheim in 2018. However, a judge has ruled in favor of Disneyland, seemingly ending cast members’ hopes for better pay, at least for now.

CATALAN IN NETFLIX ?????

CATALAN IN NETFLIX ( BY FERNANDO GRACIA FROM ADM 3)

Netflix, HBO and other streaming platforms will have to offer 6 percent of their content in Catalan, Basque and Galician as well as pay a new tax to fund productions in these co-official languages of Spain, according to a new audiovisual law by the Spanish government.

LA CASA DE PAPEL

LA CASA DE PAPEL ( BY DIANA f. FROM ADM3)

La casa de papel' is undoubtedly one of the greatest successes of Spanish fiction in recent years (if not the greatest success). Initially produced by Antena 3, it was broadcasted on the Spanish private channel during its first two seasons but, seeing the success, Netflix arrived and bought the rights to the Spanish production... taking it to the unprecedented success it is today, always placing it among the most watched on the platform worldwide.

Created by Alex Pina, the plot was very simple: an assault of several days prepared against the Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre in Spain. A mysterious man, known as "The Professor", is planning the biggest heist in history. To carry out the ambitious plan, a team of eight people with certain skills who have nothing to lose is recruited...

Season 5 of 'La casa de papel' is going to have to resolve many doubts, and fans are already starting to elaborate theories. One of the most recent is the one that claims that Inspector Sierra will go to the side of the Professor in this new season, and they find support in the end of season 4. Just when Sierra meets with the Professor, the season ends and, in the credits, the 'Bella Ciao' sounds. Does it mean something?

I used to watch it, but recently it is not interesting.

THE HIGHEST PAID SPORTSMAN ( BY XABI - ADM3)

SPORT: Conor McGregor, the highest paid sportsman: how has he managed to surpass Cristiano or Messi?

The Irish UFC fighter has become the athlete who has earned the most money in the last twelve months, as revealed by Forbes.

One of the most anticipated moments of the year is when Forbes magazine publishes its ranking of the highest paid athletes in the last twelve months. In this year, in which the Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc, there is surprise in the classification of the prestigious specialized media. Neither a soccer star, nor a basketball or football star is the leader.

So, who is he? Well, it has been Conor McGregor who is placed in number 1 of the Top Ten of the athletes who have earned the most money in the last year. Quite a milestone for the Irish fighter, who is not usual in these matches, since this is the second time that he has appeared in the top ten highest paid throughout his career

WOMEN INTHE 19TH CENTURY

DID YOU KNOW THAT WOMEN COULDN'T WORK IN THE 19TH CENTURY BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ALLOWED.

TAKE THE CASE OF MARY ANN EVANS, THE ENGLISH WRITE. SHE WAS BORN IN 1819 BUT SHE COULD NEVER USED HER REAL NAME AND SHE WAS USING 'GEORGE ELIOTT'.

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE NOVELS IS 'MIDDLEMARCH', WHERE YOU CAN APPROACH TO LIFE AT THAT TIME, CRITICISING THE BEHAVIOUR OF THE UPPER CLASSES.

WE ARE IMPROVING THE SITUATION NOWADAYS, FORTUNATELY.. .. ALTHOUGH NOT LONG AGO, FOR OUR SURPRISE A GROUP OF 3 MEN WERE USING THE NAME OF A WOMAN BECAUSE, THEY PROBABLY THOUGHT THEY WERE GOING TO SELL THE NOVEL BETTER.

COMPETITION SPIRIT

 COMPETITION SPIRIT (B2 STUDENT )

Competition spirit has been the driving force behind many great achievement throughout history. Furthermore, it is all around us, whether it is in politics or business, or between classmates or siblings.

My personal view is that competition is needed to achieve success. It encourages hard work, promotes interaction and boosts the economy. Moreover, competition is a driving motivator which make us work hard. It adds pressure that keeps us focused on our goals. In addition to that, competition gives us the impetus to overcome obstacles and persevere. We are less  inclined to give up if we know we will lose out to a rival. In addition to that, competition encourages interaction owing to the fact it brings people together, especially for sporting events such as the Olympic Games. What Iike best is that the interaction and support prompted by rivalry contributes to success.

Briefly we can say that, if there is no rivalry in the world no one would succeed in their life and everybody  would be at a same level. In my opinion, competition is an integral part of achieving success. Nevertheless, we should take care about that competitive nature will not destroy our daily life.

THE CEMETERY CHALLENGE ( 1ST PRIZE -2 BCS)

THE CEMETERY CHALLENGE ( BY NEREA FROM  2BCHS)

Once upon a time, there was a group of young people who went to spend the night at a friend's house, taking advantage of the fact that her parents were traveling. When the lights were turned off they began to tell scary stories, and finally, they ended up talking about an older man who had recently been buried in a nearby cemetery. Furthermore, he was said to have been buried alive and could be heard clawing at the coffin, trying to get out.

However, one of the girls scoffed at the idea, so the others challenged her to get up and go visit the grave. So, as proof that she had gone, she had to drive a wooden stake into the ground of the grave. However, the girl left and her friends turned off the light again and waited for her to return.

But an hour passed, and another, without hearing from her friend. They lay awake in bed, increasingly terrified. Morning came and the girl had not appeared. That same day, the girl's parents returned home and, along with the rest of the parents, went to the cemetery. Unfortunately, they found the girl lying on the grave, she was dead! By bending down to drive the stake into the ground, she had also caught the hem of her skirt. When she tried to get up and couldn't, she believed the dead old man had grabbed her. Finally, she was scared to death on the spot.

IRRATIONAL FEAR (1st prize in 2 CIT)

IRRATIONAL FEAR ( BY DIEGO BARTOLOME-2 CIT)

It was a very dark night. The only light in the room came from the moon, nearly new, up in the sky over the trees. The window was closed, but the sound of the branches shaken violently by the wind was clearly distinguished inside the dark room. It was cold, and he rested worried in his bed, in front of that enormous window and against the door.

Then, the sounds which came from the exterior ended. However, the moon started to grow and grow, rising up in the sky and lighting up the trees, while the branches started to resemble a lot of large paws trying to catch the night’s light bulb. Suddenly, the limbs got closer to the window, and he closed his eyes and turned his head to the wall, when the temperature seemed to get lower. He covered himself with the blanket, trembling because of the cold… or not. There was something strange in the ambience, impossible to define with words, but drying up his soul. He believed to feel like if everything around him had got frozen, even the moon’s light across the window, and only remained the sounds remained coming inside the house, from the other side of the door. The creak of the floor, very strong in the suspectful silent dark, was getting closer to the room. A cold room whose dimensions started to change. A room where he wasn’t feeling safe. Then, another sound broke that space: the slowly opening of the door. His heart had a shock and started to beat stronger. He didn’t look at that intrusion. He couldn’t, because he was completely paralized due to a sense of fear and the cold of the room. An energy crossed the door and got closer to him, step by step, beat by beat, second by second. The frontiers between all the things disappeared: the cold, the sounds, theNm, the branches, the room,...

Then, when he almost could sense the presence touching his head, he suddenly opened his eyes. It was a sunny and peaceful morning. It had just been another bad dream. Another restless night more.

MYSTERY & IMAGINATION (1ST PRIZE)

RED PAINT ( BY NERAT FROM 2 CIE "1ST PRIZE")

Night guard is a very scary job, and she knew that, in fact everybody had told her so, but she needed the money, and what could even go wrong?

It was a Sunday, she was reading a book in the infinite silence of the night shift, everything was dark except for the tender glow her flashlight was emitting and the cold atmosphere was giving her chills. Suddenly she cought a glance of a white and red figure wondering around, her heart skipped a beat and her skin turned paler than ever. Nevertheless, she got up and started searching for it, convincing herself that it must had been an illusion, although she wasn’t so sure about it. She found nothing, which took a huge weight off her shoulders, but the anxious feeling of uneasiness was still there. The days went by, and the feeling wasn’t leaving, it wasn’t until a strong, disgusting smell started to make its appearence in the mall, that she decided to call the police. Despite her optimism, she had a gut feeling that this experience wasn’t going to end well, and she was right: a corpse soaked in blood was stuck inside a private room.

As far as she knew, the body was from a pinter that had been painting the roof the night she saw a figure, the ceiling had broken and he had fallen, breaking multiple ribs, but as he sought for help, he got stuck in that room and bled to death. She quit the job after that.

MYSTERY IN THE COTTAGE

( by Judith Borja, ADM3- PRIZE PRIZE)

MYSTERY IN THE COTTAGE

Every 9th of every month, it happens. Several strangers come to a cabin, stealthy, creepy, wearing long beige trench coats and red hats. Some carry backpacks. Others simply carry bags. I always wonder why so many people gather in that small hut, in a forest in the middle of the night? If you wonder how I found out, my house is one of the closest to the forest.  One day I was walking with my dog and my best friend, John, and we decided to go there, tired of the unbearable noise of the city.

As soon as we walked in, we felt that strange feeling in our stomach. We ignored it and kept walking. "It's getting late," I said, "A bit more, I see something interesting there. Something interesting in this town, Lily! What if it's a video game shop? Or better yet... a knick-knack shop!"

I thought about telling him that that was impossible for obvious reasons, but I didn't want to take away his illusion. That's when we saw them for the first time, about fifty men, entering that hut. By my intuition, I hid behind one of the huge pine trees. I looked at John, he was gawking at the movements of the strangers. One of them, with the darkest eyes I have ever seen, smiled at him. I didn't think twice about dragging my friend behind the tree. "Exaggerated" he muttered. "Shhh" I whispered back.

And today, after spying on their movements, I developed a strange penchant for uncovering that mystery, but I'm no Sherlok. I have only discovered that they meet on the 9th of every month, go into the hut, and 90 minutes later, come out with empty backpacks and bags, and after another 90 minutes they return with full, heavy backpacks and bags. After another 90 minutes they come back with backpacks and bags completely full and heavy. Are they thieves? I think to myself, sitting at the roots of the tree that keeps me guessing.I'm getting sleepy, I should go. They're taking too long to come back. But then, I hear noises, gunshots, screams. Fear sticks in my throat, I stand up quickly in the dark, watching all the strange men running away, some cursing, some laughing. One of them, passing close to me, crashes into the tree, screams in pain and gets up to continue running. His rucksack falls next to me. Curiosity kills me more than the sounds of distant gunfire, this is my chance! I open it, feeling the zip cold and a little damp. What my eyes see makes me go crazy. It was my best friend's head, full of blood. I scream like a madwoman, throwing the backpack, now I'm really running without a care in the world. I dodge all the men, adrenaline rushing through my veins and it's the only impulse I have to keep running, as I see everything blurry, tears blurring my field of vision. A root appears in the middle of the ground, making me stumble. The pain is horrible, but I still find the strength to get up and look for a foothold.A white-gloved hand offers to lift me up.

—Hi, Lily. He smiles, the same dark-eyed man who smiled at my best friend last month.
