LECTURE TODAY: ROBERT FROM OHIO-USA
Today, we were awarded a nice visit at the library at 12.40pm
Robert came to our school, invited by our teacher Marga. He is an American engineer who was working at the US airforce in Spain since 1967 till retirement. (by Bto students)
He is an expert in communications and transmissions, although he is already a pensioner, so our students of Electronics (with their teachers Fran and Jesus), and Technological Bachillerato went to an interesting lecture in English at the Library. We also called Yolanda and her students of Earth Science.
It was a pity that we only had one hour... he could have been talking much more and he told me he enjoyed being in a school after over 50 years. (Marga)
He married a Spanish woman and he can speak Spanish, of course.
Thanks, Robert. See you soon......

BUT, THIS YEAR, I TOOK AIDAN WITH ME, THE AMERICAN ASSISTANT WHO IS TEACHING ENGLISH AT SCHOOL. WE REALLY ENJOYED THE STREET MARKET AND ALL THE DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES GOING ON DURING THE FESTIVAL. NEW PROPOSALS TO INVEST IN OUR VILLAGE
Without any kind of dsoubt, sports are on top of my list when suggesting a proposal regarding the question of public financing in our town.
There are countless studies and reports stating that the practising of sports not only improves your health but also set youngsters apart from criminal activities. having a healthier and safer society is a priceless long term investment. Therefore, improving sport facilities would result in a highly positive aspect for our village, both for our young and old people. This way, not only will they enjoy this new space but also they will improve their physical problems and will also socialize.
Secondly, if we had to choose another area for the local council to invest in, I would choose the Green spaces. Relating this to the former point, when the weather is nice and warm, going for a relaxing walk or for a picnic apart from sports are other things which people from the village would be grateful for. As my colleagues commented in the last meeting, they are a great spaces, as they can be used by everyone, no matter the age or the sex, that is to say anyone can profict, from parents who go for a a stroll with babies, to grandparents resting quietly , away from traffic noise, sitting in the benches in order to chat. In short, green spaces are wonderful and a social opportunity to promote social contact with the rest of the inhabitants of our village.
Having said this, those are our two proposals for the local council to invest in our society, so that, everybody can profit in their free time.

MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL IN TERUEL ...
YES... IT IS TIME FOR MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL IN TERUEL NEXT WEEKEND.
YOU CAN VISIT THE TOWN AND DRESS AS THE PEOPLE USED TO DRESS AT THAT TIME.
IT IS A RECREATION OF THE TIMES AND THE STORY OF DIEGO DE MARCILLA AND ISABEL DE SEGURA, WHO COULD NEVER FULFILL THEIR TRUE LOVE BECAUSE SHE WAS RICH AND HE WAS THE SECOND SON, THAT IS TO SAY 'SEGUNDON' WHO CAN INHERIT NOTHING FROM HIS FAMILY. THAT'S WHY HE LEFT THE XTOWN AND WENT TO WAR TO GET TREASURES IN THE PERIOD OF 5 YEARS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN HE GOT BACK, IT WAS ONE HOUR LATE AND THE TIME GIVEN HAD EXPIRED. SHE WAS OBLIGED TO GET MARRIED TO AN OLD RICH GENTLEMAN FROM ALBARRACIN: SIR AZAGRA.
ONE LITTLE CURIOSITY IS THAT A FEW YEARS AGO, THERE CAME AN AMERICAN MAN CALLED 'AZAGRA' WHO STATED THAT HIS ANCESTORS WERE FROM ALBARRACIN AND HE WANTED TO KNOW THE VILLAGE AND THE STORY CONNECTED TO HIS SURNAME. SIR AZAGRA MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN ANCESTOR OF THE AMERICAN MAN. WHO KNOWS....?????
ANYWAY, GO TO TERUEL, DON'T MISS IT !!!!
I WILL BE THERE. (MARGA HERRERO)
....... ALTHOUGH YOU MIGHT NOT RECOGNIZE ME.

RACIST ATTITUDES SHOULD DISAPPEAR.....
By Delia Funes from 2nd CIT) Feb- 2018
NAZY GERMANY
Today, we atended a very
interesting conference and we learnt that many years ago, Germany was a real
nightmare where the humans were monsters. Germany was stained with blood and
would never recover from that horrible past, as we always think of them as the
Nazi Germans. However, not all of them were nazis, thank goodness. It was nice
to find out that a relative of the lecturer could survive the camp of
MAuthousen, where hundreds died.
The world nowadays is less
racist, or at least, I would like to believe so although there are people who
still are, and I don’t understand why, since we are all equal; it doesn’t
matter the skin color, the culture, the language, the tastes, the gender… We
are in the twenty-first century and we musn’t make the same mistakes as our
ancestors.
Fromm y point of view, whenever
we see a lack of respect from someone who thinks he or she is superior to
another person, we must denounce that attitude
in order to finish with racism. We are all humans, so there aren’t
inferior races ( as the Nazis used to think), nor we are any better or worse
just because of living in another country or coming from a different place.

KEEPING FIT...
Whereas traditionally it was football and basket only, now there are other trendy activities like trekking, yoga, paddle or 'dancing'
many people have taken up kizomba or zumba to exercise regularly and keep fit while they enjoy their free time......

THERE ARE OTHER SPORTS BUT FOOTBALL
"There are other sports but football" says Rafa Conde from 2nd Bachillerato.
he was encouraged by his friend Dani Luna to take up atletism. He really liked it. Both of them did, but now Rafa is the Absolute championship of Aragon in his category of 'Endurance atletics race', running over 1,500m.
Whereas Dani prefers speed (100m). He is also the champion of Aragon.
They are very good and they enjoy in spite of the effort.
CONGRATULATIONS.

ENERGY EFFICICIENCY ACTIONS (by Jorge Vicente)
Energy Efficiency Actions ( by Jorge Vicente from 2nd CIT- ies Pedro Cerrada)
I have chosen this topic to write about because The energy efficiency is one of the most current polemical issues nowadays.
Therefore, all the enterprises look for a way to reduce pollution, carrying out Energy efficiency practices. Furthermore, some governments highly support these actions giving really important economic incentives to them. From my point of view, despite the fact that it can be a bit expensive at first, the countries that can use the clean energies, like Spain, should take advantage of this as soon as possible, by installing solar panels, and wind turbines. Nevertheless, we can also have energy efficiency practices in our daily life, not only using the public transport for example, but also with other small details like not printing the papers that are not essential, or turning off what we are not using, such as tap water or lights on
To sum up, the environment is our environment, it is --- everybody’s problem, and, if we can do a little thing to improve it, we have to set off the journey, as this is the world that we will give away to our children, so we should never give up and try hard to be successful in our main goal, which is taking care of it. If we try hard, we won’t regret it.
SNOW IS ALWAYS WELCOME....
DREAMS, UTHOPIES, QUIMERAS.......
THIS WHAT YOUR IMAGINATIoN CAN PRODUCE WITH A BIT OF EFFORT.....
THEY ARE VISIBLE IN THE CORRIDOR OF THE FIRST FLOOR.
YOU CAN¡T MISS THEM !!

RECREARTE IS WORKING ON THE 60s....
RECREARTE PROJECT IS WORKING ON THE 60s.
In 2nd bto, they are collecting family photos that testify what we were doing at that moment in Spain.
Meanwhile, here you are some facts that have been found out by Ana Saez-Benito from 2nd CIT:
Where were you in the 60s?
The 60s was a period of revolution, of civil protests and innovations. A trademark of the 60s is,
without any trace of doubt, the hippie culture. The hippie movement began its development in San
Francisco, during the early 1960s as a youth movement, and then it was spread around the world.
Its origins may be traced to European social movements in the 19th and early 20th century such as
Bohemians. Its basis was harmony with nature, communal living, artistic experimentation, and the
widespread use of recreational drugs.
In 1961 the Berlin wall was built, 45 kilometers of concrete, it was a barrier that physically and
ideologically divided Berlin,
In 1962, the Cuban Missile crisis happened. It's also known as the October Crisis, and it was a 13-
day confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union
concerning the weapon advances. The Americans had some threatening missile bases on Italy, which was one of the closest counties to the USSR.
The USSR threatened then to send missiles to Cuba. Although both
countries decided to make a truce, this confrontation is often considered the closest the Cold War came to becoming a full-scale nuclear war.
Meanwhile in 1963, Martin Luther King Jr, an American civil rights activist, was delivering his famous speech "I Have a Dream".
Fun fact, the mini skirt and the bikini appeared for the first time in the 60s too! And hand in hand
with this new clothes, the feminism movement grew, and women from many countries started
fighting for their rights, as they said, they were "Tired of feeling like nothing". All these women came
together and despite being shut down multiple times with answers like "Cool down, little girl. We
have more important things to do here than talk about women's problems." they did not give up.
On May 1968 the French administration shut down the Sorbonne
University, which led to hundreds of student occupation protests
against the traditional institutions, capitalism, consumerism and
American imperialism. The protesters also wanted to stop the Vietnam War who killed around 5,7 millions of people, ongoing since 1955.
When the Sorbonne reopened, students occupied it and declared it
an autonomous "people's university"
Late in the 60s, on July 20, 1969, the spaceship called Apollo 11 was landing on the Moon, and the mission commander Neil Amstrong was the first man to set foot on the lunar surface. The space race that was taking place between the two Cold War rivals, the Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States (US) ended with Armstrong's famous words "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind". The whole event was shown on the TV, however, there's still a lot of people who believe the Moon landing was fake, and that it never happened.
On the same year, the LGBT movement started officially in New York, after the fights that had
happened in Stonewall. Stonewall was a gay bar that was taken by the police, and it is considered of
importance because from then on, the people from the LGBT community came together to fight for
their rights. Some of the goals of this moment are to legalize the gay marriage, to be able to adopt
kids and not to be killed because of who they are.

ACTIVITIES FOR THE SUMMER IN U.K
ANCAR ACTIVIDADES
