Aitor Sánchez about nutrition and something that he calls Dietarquía, and that makes it clear that what we have been led to believe, that it comes from scientific studies, can be a lie.

He also says that scientific studies are sometimes manipulated and give results of convenience for those who carry out said study, and cites as an example that the studies carried out with respect to sugar and obesity, if they were financed by the sugar industry give a result that sugar does not cause obesity or disease, while if they are independent studies in terms of funding, the result is the opposite.

Therefore, to all those who speak of science as something true, take a good look at it, since unfortunately it is not always the case. It is logical that scientists want to do studies that result in true discoveries, but they need funding to work and whoever has the money has the power over the result.

 WE ARE CONCERNED WITH RENEWABLE ENERGIES AT THIS SCHOOL . 

THE ELECTRONICS STUDENTS HAVE INSTALLED SOME SOLAR PANELS IN THE ROOF AND WE ARE VERY PROUD OF THEM. JOSE LUIS PUEYO ALWAYS PARTICIPATES IN OUR ERASMUS + PROJECTS ABD  SHOWS THE INSTALLATIONS TO ALL THE VISITORS AND EXPLAINS THAT THE ENERGY PRODUCED IS USED IN THE SPECIFIC BUILDING IN ORDER TO SAVE UP. 

BESIDES, THEY ARE ALSO MAKING IT SMART, WITH THE TEACHER FRAN,  SO THAT THEY CAN MANIPULATE THE SHUTTERS OR THE CENTRAL HEATING WITH THEIR MOBILES APPLICATION.

4TH ESO AND 1ST BTO STUDENTS WERE CONNECTED WITH HIM WHO WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS BACKGROUND AND HIS COLLABORATION IN TV AND RADIO AS WELL AS IN SOCIAL NETWORKS WITH THE MAIN HASHTAG OF 'OUR DIET IS NOT COMPLETE'. ( NUESTRA DIETA COJEA...!!!!! ) 

WE INVITED HIM IN ORDER TO HIGHLIGHT SOME FALSE BELIEFS RELATED TO NUTRITION, LIKE IGNORING THAT ORANGE JUICE IS FULL OF SUGAR... IT IS NOT THAT HEALTHY UNLESS IT IS HOME MADE AMONG OTHERS; CALCIUM MILK HAS VERY LITTLE ADDED CALCIUM; 

NUTRITION IS AS IMPORTANT AS TRAINING WHEN PREPARING FOR COMPETITIONS. WE WON'T BE ABLE TO TRAVEL  TO OTHER SCHOOLS TILL NEXT YEAR, BUT THE PHYSICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT IS IN CHARGE OF ALL THE PREPARATION OF OUR STUDENTS. 

THEN, THEY WILL HAVE TO CHOOSE THE BEST STUDENTS TO REPRESENT UTEBO IN EUROPEAN SCHOOLS ( GERMANY, HOLLAND, UK, ITALY).

1.-ISN’T IT HARD TO REMOVE SOME STAINS? LIKE… TOMATO SAUCE OR INK. WE KNOW MILK IS THE SOLUTION FOR INK ON CLOTHES… IT IS MAGICAL.

2.- OXIDATION. WE ALWAYS KEEP FOOD IN THE FRIDGE BECAUSE, COLD MAKES THE CHEMICAL REACTION SLOWER.

3.- CHLORHYDRIC ACID IS PRODUCED BY THE STOMACH AND THEN… YOU FEEL BADLY AND YOU GET ACIDNESS. THEREFORE, WE APPLY SALT WHICH NEUTRALIZES THE REACTION. OR WE TAKE ‘ALMAX’, WHICH IS ALUMINIUM, MAGNESIUM AND HYDROXIDE. THAT IS TO SAY, ACIDS GET NEUTRALIZED WITH BASES. 

4.- THE IRON GETS DIRTY WITH THE PASSING OF TIME, SO … WE CAN USE VINEGAR TO REMOVE THE CALCIUM. 

5.- ANTS BITE BUT YOU CAN PUT ON SOME AMONIAC TO FIGHT THE HARM PRODUCED. THE SAME WE COULD DO AT THE SEE WHEN THERE ARE A LOT OF JELLYFISH. THE ONLY TOUCHING OF THEM HURTS A LOT UNLESS YOU USE AMONIAC.

 WHAT ABOUT STUDYING ABROAD? ( BY ANA COLOMO)

They say when you are young you should make as many memories as possible. They say “go partying, travel with friends, create experiences you will never forget” but how is that even possible if we spend most of our lives controlled by our parents? As I see it, the answer is simple: studying abroad.

Even though living away from our families is hard, you will feel the freedom you were dreaming about all those last years. Moreover, if you had the opportunity to start again in a place no one knows you, wouldn’t you take it? I would. Those kinds of experiences that studying abroad brings to the table are scarce. Other experiences such as traveling around Europe by train or working abroad are meant for older people.

To sum up, studying abroad is the closest experience a teenager can have of being independent. Nevertheless, it is not cheap therefore you will need to save up some money from now on if you are planning to do it soon.

WASTING FOOD EVERY DAY ....!!!

 DON’T ALWAYS BELIEVE WHAT THE DATE SAYS! ( BY F. GARCÍA)

According to the writer’s view, on the one hand, nowadays in the world a lot of people don’t have enough to eat and on the other hand,  in Britain (and in Spain as well) households are throwing away millions of tons of food and drink every year.

This fact is due to date on the labelling as these groceries have past the date. However, you can still eat most of them without problem. There are different types of dates depending on the product. The products with “Display until” and “Sell by” cannot be sold after this date, nevertheless, you can eat them for a couple of days later if you put them into your fridge or even weeks or months with products like pasta or rice. Supermarkets often offer these products cheaper a few days before the date. “Best before” is about the product quality, therefore, perhaps it changes the taste and texture of the product after this date, even though you can eat them. “Use by” is the most important and it’s not recommended to eat this food after this date, although it looks OK. Obviously this labelling is used for meat, fish and ready-made food.

In conclusion, a lot of food is being wasted these days because of an unclear product labelling which should be changed

 

MUSIC THERAPY

 MUSIC THERAPY ( BY ISABEL G.)

To begin with, music is important to most people's lives. It is used at different times, for example to relax, in a concert, in celebrations, to dance, and as a therapeutic tool. Moreover, music therapy is used in medicine for the treatment of psychological problems, attention deficit, dementia, or autism. Below  I am going to we describe some of these treatments.

Firstly, Jonas was born with a diagnosis of autism; thanks to music he has improved verbal communication and social contact. Secondly, Bobby had a difficult childhood; when he joined a drumming group, it decreased your frustration and improved your self-esteem. Thirdly, Theresa suffers from dementia and is often aggressive when she becomes disorientated; the music relaxes her and improves her intellectual and social skills.

 In conclusion, the music makes us feel good and it can improve our cognitive and social ability. You don't need to be a superstar to enjoy music because it involves communication, interaction, listening, sharing, and turn-taking.

How will be the house of the future? It's a mystery but we know that it will be full of gadgets like electronic devices and the Internet around all houses.

On the one hand, in the kitchen of the future your fridge will tell you what food you need to buy or will communicate directly with shops but the essential things will probably not change a lot. Also, in the living room it will be possible to speak to your TV and give it commands through remote control. On the other hand, the bathroom of the future will be full of technology that saves energy and water. For example, the shower will be programmable and you will change the temperature in the bath by using your mobile phone. Finally, outside you will have an electric car and a fuel cell to charge it.

However, there is a thing that won't ever change. It is the garden. Technology can never replace the pleasure of looking at the flowers and listening to birds.

Como si de una hoja se tratase, fui movida por el viento, fui arrastrada a un invierno lleno de escarcha y silencio. Una hoja arrancada de un suelo del que no se quería despedir.

Como si de una hoja se tratase, me iba muriendo. Iba perdiendo con el tiempo el verde esperanza de volver a casa.

Y como si de una hoja se tratase, me iba cayendo. Iba descendiendo hacia un futuro oscuro, lleno de olvido y sufrimiento. Iba esquivando pisadas del martirio de lo inefable que era mi cabeza en aquel momento.

Porque como si de una hoja se tratase, le perdí la guerra al viento, y ahora ya no puedo regresar, y es que de tanto flotar, ahora (yo) ya no vuelo.

Sharing your own struggles with your team members will encourage them to open up about their own. This is not only a bonding experience for a team, but will give you insight into what support people need. One idea is to invite everyone to share a highlight and lowlight from their past week. If people are nervous to share, start with your own. What you’re doing is acknowledging that it’s OK not to feel OK all of the time. 

VISIT TO THE TOWER OF UTEBO.

 YESTERDAY,  THE HISTORY TEACHER ADRIANA TEJEL TOGETHER WITH MARGA HERRERO WENT WITH THE PUPILS OF 2ND B  WENT TO VISIT THE TOWER OF UTEBO WHICH WAS BUILT IN 1544, DURING THE RENAISSANCE, ALTHOUGH IT IS CONSIDERED MUDEJAR ART.

THE GUIDED TOUR AROUND THE CHURCH WAS LED BY JAIME, WHO BELONGS TO THE VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATION OF UTEBO AND WHO IS WELL DOCUMENTED ABOUT ALL THESE MATTERS. HE IS GREAT AND HAS SEVERAL BOOKS WHICH WERE AWARDED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF ARAGON, DEALING WITH THE ROLE OF  UTEBO IN THE SITES OF ZARAGOZA.

IT WAS A VERY INTERESTING VISIT !! THEN, ONE OF THE STUDENTS RECORDED A PODCAST SUMMARY FOR OUR ERASMUS+ PROJECT OF 'HISTORICAL MONUMENTS'.

ST PATRICK'S AT SCHOOL

 AS EVERY YEAR ON THE 17TH OF MARCH, WE FOCUS ON THE LOVELY CELEBRATION OF ST PATRICK'S IN IRELAND AND ALL THE IRISH PUBS AROUND THE WORLD. 

HOWEVER, THIS YEAR, BECAUSE OF COVID SITUATION IT HAS NOT BEEN POSSIBLE TO DO IT, UNFORTUNATELY. SO, WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT YEAR.

ON THE 8TH OF MARCH, WE WERE DEALING WITH DIFFERENT  WOMEN WHO WERE IMPORTANT IN THEIR TIMES. FOR EXAMPLE HYPATHIA , WHO WAS THE FIRST MATHEMATICIAN. 

THE STUDENTS WERE SEARCHING FOR INFORMATION AND WERE HANGING UP THEIR CHOICE IN THIS FABULOUS TREE.

Firstly, if a package of food has passed its ‘use by’ or ‘best before’ date, does that mean you should throw it away? The present marketing companies have different strategies in order to increase their goods. Meanwhile the most common is the system of expiration dates that confuses consumers and believes they must discard food in order to protect their own safety, but that isn’t a right point. 

Currently, a reality in many households is they throw out billions of dollars of perfectly good food every year because they misinterpret expiration labels on the packaging. So that we cannot continue making this big mistake because in this 21st century there are still people who go hungry and who died due to poverty, so I mean we should be aware of the great value as well as the food has. On the one hand, lots of studies reveal if the food looks rotten or smells strange you should throw it away. On the other hand, if it just passes the date on the parcel, it doesn’t mean it’s unsafe. What’s more, adding some more information you’re able to eat it with no doubt because it means that groceries nutrients will decline, but they won’t spoil. 

In short, I believe it’s important to look at what is written on the parcel, but you shouldn’t be obsessed with the date. To conclude, if we had been conscious of the bad way of wasting meals, we would have saved up some extra dollars.

Traditional banks don’t usually lend money to poor people because they don’t have possessions or as security to repay loans.

The idea for microcredit started developing many years ago, during his time teaching at University of Bangladesh by Yunus. Small amounts of money are lent  (++++)to poor people with lower rates of interest than the banks charged them. Consequently, the borrowers could make higher profits. Firstly, he started lending from his own money to some women from a small town near the university. Nowadays, it has become an organization of microcredits. Not only Yunus lent money to poor communities, but he also persuaded local banks to lend money to the organisation which was used to lend microloans again. Besides, try to convince people to save money in order to have more possibility of lending microcredits to others families. 

 Summing up, microcredits is a system which feeds itself and will benefit poor people.

 CURIOSITY  IN THE ELECTRONICS BUILDING AT PEDRO CERRADA !!

ELECTRONICS STUDENTS ARE VERY LUCKY BECAUSE THEY CAN ENJOY AND WORK WITH A FABULOUS "MIXING TABLE" IN THEIR DAILY LESSONS,  FOR THEIR OWN LEARNING.

IT WAS USED IN 1983, BY THE FAMOUS IRISH BAND U2 IN THEIR ROCK TOUR ROUND SPAIN AND AFTER THEIR PERFORMANCE IN ZARAGOZA, THEY DIDN'T WANT TO TAKE  THE HUGE TABLE WITH THEM, AS IT WAS TOO HEAVY, SO THEY SOLD IT FOR A VERY REASONABLE PRICE. GREAT !!

NOW, IT CAN BE SEEN ON THE SECOND FLOOR, IN THE ROOM AT THE END, ON THE LEFT, IN THE ELECTRONICS BUILDING.

THE STUDENTS COULD DO IT FROM ENGLISH OR FRENCH INTO SPANISH AS PART OF THE CURRICULUM IN DURING THEIR ESSONS IN THEIR CLASSROOMS WITH MASKS AND OPEN WINDOWS. 

THEY FOUND OUT THAT IT IS NOT AS EASY AS IT MAY SEEM BECAUSE SOMETIMES, THE SOUNDS ARE NOT THE SAME, THE IDIOMS OR THE COLOQUIAL EXPRESSIONS:

 OUR STUDENTS IN 4TH ARE ALREADY INTO ANCIENT CULTURE AND THEY START WITH LATIN AND CULTURE IN GENERAL: ABOUT 40. 

THEN, SOME OF THEM WILL PASS AND GO INTO BTO ( HUMANITIES) WITH THE TEACHERS INMA AND CHARO, WHO TRY TO ENCOURAGE THEM BECAUSE THIS FIELD IS NOT AS POPULAR AS IT USED TO BE LONG TIME AGO.
