BRITISH COUNCIL EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM AT PEDRO CERRADA NEXT YEAR !!!

BILINGUAL SYSTEM   ( BY R.J.D.  )

First of all, I believe that the bilingual system in Spain is a controversial issue, due to the fact that there are many different opinions for and against it.

Nowadays, Spain suffers still an economic recession, so the government doesn’t provide families with enough grants or to schools with enough money for education. For this reason, the bilingual system is so complicated to be implemented in all schools. A lot of parents are interested in this system because there will be more opportunities in their children’s life. That’s to say, in the future, in children know how to speak different languages, they will probably have more opportunities to find a good job. When I was a child, I would have liked to study different languages, but at that moment, these systems were for rich people, so it was impossible for me to get to these type of schools.

In my opinion, I believe learning languages is so relevant for all students because if you know how to speak other languages, you can communicate with others and it can also make us more sociable when we travel abroad or when we meet foreign people.

*** But today, we are very happy because now, it is official. Our school is going to have the bilingual system carried out by the British Council. We have a skilled teacher for Music, for Arts, for Science and for Maths. So ... we can start perfectly.

GREAT NEWS !!!

INVESTIGA I+d+i PROGRAM FOR 4TH YEAR STUDENTS......

As I said before, 5 students from 4th ESO are going to participate this year in the competition  organized by San Patricio. The ones who are selected all over Spain will go to the National student Congress of Young researchers which will be held in May in Madrid.

We have already sent the summaries of the topics they are investigating...

Martin: Alternative fuel for Vehicles.
Lucas Navarro: Trips to Mars
Ana Saez-Benito: Intelligent cities
Carmen Gerente: Domesticating Microorganisms
Jorge Vicente: Microscope development.

I wish some of them could be selected because it is a great opportunity to meet other students from all over Spain and talk to expert scientists who are working in CESIT.

Last time we were selected, we visited NASA headquarters and the residence of students where important people lived in the 20th century, like Garcia Lorca or Einstein.

GOOD LUCH TO ALL OF YOU !!!

TRIP TO LONDON NEXT WEEK..... great !!!!

I am travelling to London next week with Teresa Gonzalez, the new English teacher and 13 Administration and Electronics students.

We will travel cheaply with Ryanair and we will be staying at a youth hostel for 3 nights.

We will visit the most important sights, the British Museum, the Bank of England, the castle and the Tower bridge, the Globe Shakespeare theatre, the Dungeons ( a Little bit of horror adventures is always welcome by the students), the Emirates stadium....etc.

We will show some photos after the trip.

I have been travelling to London every year since I was 15 years old... I love London. (Marga)
