MODEL OF A EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

EIGHT FIRST BACHILLERATO  STUDENTS FROM OUR SCHOOL HAVE PARTICIPATED THIS YEAR IN THE III EDITION OF M.E.P. AT THE UNIVERSITY SAN JORGE IN ZARAGOZA.

THEY PREPARED THE DIFFERENT COMMISSIONS ON THE 17TH WITH STUDENTS FROM OTHER 15 SCHOOLS AND THE ACTED AS MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT ON THE 19TH.

AFTER THE SESSION, TEACHERS VOTED FOR THE BEST SO THAT THEY CAN BE PART OF THE NATIONAL SESSION WITH PUPILS FROM ALL OVER SPAIN.

SO, GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF THEM !!

ERASMUS STUDENTS CAME TO UTEBO 9TH TO 15TH DECEMBER

26 STUDENTS AND 11 TEACHERS CAME TO UTEBO FOR THE ERASMUS+ PROJECT MOBILITY:  "INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS PUT INTO PRACTICE"

WE REALLY ENJOYED. 

ON MONDAY, THEY ARRIVED AND WERE TAKEN TO THE DIFFERENT FAMILIES. 

ON TUESDAY, THEY HAD A CHALLENGE AROUND SCHOOL AND ALSO ALONG THE VILLAGE OF UTEBO. LATER,  WE HAD AN OFFICIAL WELCOMING EVENT BY THE MAYOR OF UTEBO AND THEN, A WORLD HERITAGE TRAIL IN ZARAGOZA. 

ON WEDNESDAY, THEY HAD AN INMERSION IN THE SPANISH LANGUAGE AND THEN, THEY PRACTISED THEIR SKILLS IN CARREFOUR

ON THURSDAY, AFTER THE SPANISH INMERSION, THEY WERE TAKEN TO CPS FOR 3 DIFFERENT WORKSHOPS ABOUT MAGNETIC FIELDS, CHEMICAL REACTIONS AND AN ELECTRIC MOTORBIKE. IN THE AFTERNOON. THEY VISITED ALJAFERIA CASTLE. 

ON FRIDAY, THEY ALL PLAYED KAHOOT ABOUT OUR SPANISH CULTURE AND ALSO,  VISITED IMAGINARIUM LOGISTICS PLATFORM IN PLAZA AND THEN, WE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHOW OUR ARAGONESE ROOTS, DANCING 'JOTA'. IN THE AFTERNOON, THEY WENT TO PUERTO VENECIA. 

ON SATURDAY, THERE WAS AN INTERESTING ACTIVITY IN TERMINALZERO, IN ORDER TO LEARN HOW TO FLY.

2nd BTO went to Madrid for 3 days with their teachers.

They comment they had a lovely time although it rained.

LUCÍA ALVAREZ BELONGS TO THE CLUB AND WANTS TO RECOMMEND EVERYBODY TO TAKE UP SKATING AS A HOBBY OR AS A WAY OF DOING EXERCISE IN ORDER TO KEEP FIT.

IN ADM 3, TEN PEOPLE SAY THEY CAN SKATE OUT OF 21.

ALSO, SOME OF THEM SAY THEY HAVE DONE IT ON ICE SOME TIME IN THEIR LIVES.

BOXING IS FUN FOR CELIA.....

YES, OF COURSE, BOXING IS FUN FOR CELIA BETANZOS WHO IS STUDYING 2ND BACHILLERATO IN OUR SCHOOL.

SHE SAYS, SHE HAS BEEN PRACTISING 'BOXING' FOR 3 YEARS NOW. SHE PRACTISES 3 DAYS A WEEK IN UTEBO.
ALTHOUGH SHE ADMITS IT IS FAIRLY RARE FOR A GIRL TO DO SO, SHE HAS MORE FRIENDS WHO PRACTISE WITH HER.

SHE HAS ALWAYS WATCHED 'BOXING' ON TV, AND THAT IS THE REASON WHY SHE TOOK UP THAT SPORT ONE DAY IN SEPTEMBER.

Next weekend, 15.16,17 November, we are going to conmemorate Modernist Times in Teruel as pablo Monguió, a pupil of Gaudi built our most important modernist building in Torico Square in 1912.

We have bneen doing this event since 2012 and it is getting more and more popular.

If you go, you won't miss it. !!!!

ICELAND IS A WONDER OF THE WORLD !!

I was very lucky when I was invited to Iceland for a short trip.

I can assure you that I will go back again. There nature has all its splendour. Waterfalls, snowed mountains, geysers, thermal sources, black sand beaches and long straight roads from East to West.

We should go in spring when the puffins return to lay their eggs.

Only 360,000 people live there on the whole and there is no unemployement. many young Spanish people work there in order to save up.

As an example I will say that Mayka is earning 3000 euro a month working as a shop  assistant in New Yorker, It is great. Nothing compared to our salaries in Spain.

We are working on the topics that are going to be discussed during the Autonomic session in Aragon, which will take place in San Jorge University,  on the 19th od December, 2019. 

8 pupils  have to presnt their essays before the 3rd of November to be able to participate in the different Comissions that are going to meet on the 17th of December to prepare the Parliamentary session and decide which are the proposals that are going to be sent to the European Parliament. 

THE WORST BIRTHDAY OF MY LIFE

THE WORST BIRTHDAY IN MY LIFE (BY Jessica Bella Adm 1)

I want to write what happened on my last birthday.

It was spring, a very beautiful season of the year, I was with my friends in the park, playing football. However, after playing for a long time, we hung the ball in an abamdoned house in the countryside. Then, I wnt to Sofia’s, the door was open. So, we decided to enter. Just then, someone touched me and i thought it was sofia but when I turned round it was gone. I didn’t know where she had gone. I started to walk around the house looking for her and I completely forgot about the ball. Besides, I went upstairs and a door opened. I entered the room, and began to get dizzy. I didn’t understand what was happening until I saw Sofia was, was….. she was dead ¡!!

Inmediately, I ran out and asked for help….. but when the pólice came, Sofia’s body wasn’t there. So, I told them what had happened and they told me that Sofia didn’t exist, that everything was the product of my imagination. Now I am in the asylum remembering that day, that horrible birthday…… every day, as if it had been real ¡!!

YES, HALLOWEEN IS COMING AND WE ARE HAVING A STUDENT COMPETITION IN BACHILLERATO TO FIND THE BEST HORROR STORY.

A SUMMER NIGHT AT GRANDMA’S  (By Aida Noja from CIT 2)

Ity was the last night of the summer and my sisters and me were at grandma’s home. It was raining, therefore, we stayed at home watching a horror film.

The film was so long that my little sister went to sleep. My older sister and me were very tired but, at that momento, we heard a noise in the the bedroom. We run to the bedroom to see our Little sister, however, she was ok. Anyhow, my older sister asked her about the noise and she said she had heard it coming from the kitchen. So, we went to the kitchen despite the fact that we were absolutely scared. Then, we saw on the floor of the kitchen, there were two broken glasses and that was so weird since we were alone, on our own at home.

In short, on the following day, when mum came to take us back home, we were in the car and I saw an old woman in the kitchen window but grandma wasn’t at home. That was the reason why I never went back to that house again ¡!!

6 STUDENTS FROM 4TH ESO WILL TRAVEL TO ENGER TO PRACTISE THEIR INTERNATIONAL SKILLS WITH STUDENTS FROM 5 DIFFERENT EUROPEAN SCHOOLS. 

THEY WILL BE ACCOMPANIED BY INES SANCHO AND MERCEDES DIAZ AND THEY WILL FLY FROM BARCELONA TO HANNOVER. 

WE WISH THEY HAVE A REALLY GOOD TIME ALTHOUGH, PRESUMEBLY, THEY WILL FIND BAD WEATHER. 

CLONING IS A FACT !!!

ARE WE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT CLONING IS NOT TAKING PLACE???

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THTA WE WORRY ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT BECAUSE WE ARE POLUUTING A LOT AND THERE IS A STRONG CLIMETE CHANGE.

THEY HAVE ALL DONE THEIR BEST IN THE MOON, ESPECIALLY THE TEACHERS, SANTI, JESUS, EVA AND MANOLO. HOWEVER, I WANT TO HIGHLIGHT THE ACTING OF CANDELA GOMEZ, WHO SINGS LIKE AN ANGEL AND WAS THE WEIRD PERSON AMONG THE BLUE SELENITES.

STUDENTS WILL BE SELECTED ACCORDING TO THEIR GOOD MARKS, THEIR INTEREST AND THEIR  WILLINGNESS TO HOST SOMEBODY AT HOME.

ONE OF THE ERASMUS CHALLENGES WAS TO PLAY THE TRUMPET IN THE FACTORY OF THE TRUMPETS IN GULPEN - HOLLAND.

EVAU AT UNIVERSITY

WE ARE SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS OF OUR STUDENTS IN THE UNIVERSITY ENTRY EXAM  'EVAU' BECAUSE ALMOST ALL OF THEM HAVE PASSED IN SPITE OF THEIR NERVES AND ANXIETY.


ONLY A FEW THAT WERE REPEATING 2 OR 3 SUBJECTS HAVE FAILED, PROBABLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY WERE FOCUSING ON THE SUBJECTS THAT THEY WANTED TO PASS, AND THEY DIDN'T FOLLOW UP WITH THE REST. WE ARE SORRY FOR THEM AND WE HOPE THEY CAN PASS IN SEPTEMBER.

WE CAN IMAGINE THEM NOW IN SALOU AS THE REST OF STUDENTS FROM ZARAGOZA.

THE GERMANS WERE VISITING UTEBO

YES, WE WENT TO NUREMBERG IN JANUARY 2019 AND NOW THEY THEY PAY THE VISIT BACK.

LAST WEEK A GROUP OF 11 STUDENTS AND 4 TEACHERS VISITED OUR SCHOOL, UTEBO, AND ZARAGOZA.



THEY WERE SHOCKED BY THE RAIN ONE DAY, THEY REALLY LIKE OUR TAPAS AND OUR MONUMENTS, AND FINALLY, THEY COULD TRAVEL TO TERUEL AND ALBARRACIN, WHICH IS ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MEDIEVAL TOWNS IN SPAIN.

TANJIA AND CRISTIAN PROMISED TO COME BACK NEXT YEAR. 

 

RYAN WENT BACK TO CANADA

WE WERE SO HAPPY HAVING HIM THIS YEAR, THAT WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM.

WE HOPE NEXT YEAR WE CAN HAVE A PERSON LIKE HIM SO INVOLVED IN ALL THE ACTIVITIES AND SO CREATIVE WITH THE STUDENTS.

WE VISITED THE LOARRE CASTLE AND THEY WERE SO SHOCKED THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO GO OUT OF IT.

My dreams  (by Paula Esteban from 2nd BTO)

To begin with, travel and skiing are the things I most like to do in the world. In fact, I´m pretty sure that when I work and I earn my wage, I´ll spend most of in travelling or skiing.

I´ve got a friend who shares with me all my fondness. We look like soulmates! My friend went alone to Rome, Venice and The Vatican last Christmas, something I would never do. He always tells me his experiencies in the trip and for this reason I feel encouraged to travel and take away my fear.

We used to talk about how beautiful It would be to travel to Paris like in a romantic film. In spite of the fact that I went to Disneyland Paris when I was younger, I don´t remember a lot of things, but I remember that It was one of the best trips in my whole life. Although I think that my next trip will be one of the previous, my dream has always been and will be to go to the Maldives, owing to Maldives have a supernatural beauty.

To finish, I hope to make some interesting trip this summer due to the fact, this school year has been the worst of my life and in my view all students who have completed 2nd of baccalaureate deserve the perfect summer.

A STUDENT FROM CALIFORNIA IN BTO

Hello, my name is Lena A. and I am here in Zaragoza learning Spanish for 4 months before I return to San Diego, California, here in pedro Cerrada school. I am in 2nd Bachillerato, Science and Tecnology section.

When I get back to San Diego, I will attend San Diego State University and study Political Sciences.

Life in California is very different from life in Spain. It is much warmer and days are spent at the beach. There is also a very prominent surf and skateboard culture.

it has been a great experience to get to know Zaragoza. !!!

SO THAT, 4 OF THEM GET REALLY INTERESTED IN REGISTER FOR NEXT COURSE SESSIONS. WE WILL SEE.

SERGIO PASSAMON, WHO PARTICIPATED LAST YEAR HAS DECIDED TO BECOME 'MEP ALUMNI' AND WILL STUDY POLITICS AT UNIVERSITY.

THEY STAYED IN DUTCH FAMILIES AND VISITED SOPHIANUM SCHOOL, GULPEN, THE 3 CORNERS, MAASTRICHT AND AMSTERDAM. THEY ENJOYED A LOT AN WILL HOST THE DUTCH STUDENTS FROM THE 21ST TO 25TH MAY 2019.

CARNIVAL FESTIVAL IN BURGOS !!!

CARNIVAL HOLIDAYS  ( by Patricia from ADM 3)

Carnival is a party which is celebrated before Lent, it is usually during February, although this year Carnival happened in March. The origin of this party goes back to the Roman celebrations of 5000 years ago in honor of the god Saturn, the Romans were celebrating their last days when they could eat meat before Lent. They had costumes so that nobody recognized them in those days.

I’m going to write about my last weekend.

For me, Carnival started on the 1st of March and lasted till the 5th of March. I had 5 days off.

Firstly, I travelled to Villarcayo in Burgos. There, I visited my friends and we went to take something to talk about our experiences in our new cities. The next morning, I went to my best friend’s home to dress up  and we made a small carnival float decorated like a pond. Then, all together we paraded with the charanga through the streets of the village. Our costume consists of a pink tutu, a pink sweater, pink panties, big pink wings, a beak-shaped headband, and many pink feathers… we were flamingos! During Saturday we paraded every few hours and we watched a match of football. On Sunday me and two friends more walked along the river bank, and at sunset I went back with my family to Zaragoza. Moreover, on Monday we went to the cinema to watch “How to Train Your Dragon 3” but it wasn’t as good as I believed.

In short, I really enjoyed and I had a lovely time with my friends. If I had had a lot of money, I wouldn't have travelled to another place because my village is the best place for me.

ALL HOLIDAY MAKERS SHOULD PAY AN ENVIRONMENTAL TAX

All holidaymakers should pay an environmental tax

Nowadays, many people claim that holidaymakers should pay an environmental tax. As I see it, an environmental tax isn't the solution, but it could help  maintain the places a lot of people enjoy.

In the first place, we must promote quality tourism, clean and correct with the environment. Secondly, if tourists don't meet the rules, they should pay a fine. Seeing that it doesn’t work, then yes, I would propose to put a tax on the environment. As a result, I think the holidaymakers would make less packs  to spend holidays destroying the environment.

Therefore, it is clear that this topic is food for thought but I have some reasons to believe that all holidaymakers should pay an environment tax ONLY as an extreme measure. We can do many other things to avoid the tax and improve the situation of the environment in tourist zones.

STUDENTS EXCHANGE UTEBO-GULPEN (THE NETHERLANDS)

We have been doing this exchange for 4 years now.

Gulpen is a small town near Masstricht in the Netherlands and the school is called 'Sophianum', with which we are also working in an Erasmus+ at the moment.

So, 11 students from4th ESO are travelling in April with 2 teachers. Jose (Economy) and Ruben (Phylosophy).

Then, the Dutch students will come to Utebo on the 21st of May for a week.

ESCAPING FROM SLAVERY....

 SCAPING FROM SLAVERY   by Iris, Natalia and Lucía

It was the 3rd of April of 1860, they took me to be their slave. I stayed 10 horribles years there being a slave until I decided to escape, but it was very difficult because there was one security man named Rok Wilson. He was always in front of the slave's room .

One night, I talked with my friends slaves about how I will want to escape. Then we slept. The next day in the morning,  I was alone, my friends escaped without  me and I don't know how they escaped and where they went, I only knew that I wanted to escape. 

Two weeks later, at night, I was thinking how I could  escape , when I heard  "knock knock" in the window . There were my friends knocking in the window. They gave me  some plants and they  didn't  say me to me anything, because Rok Winson was arriving. I stayed two nights  thinking what  I would do with those plants. When I arrived to the conclusion that  I can use them to do  a sleep potion. All night during one week I put  things  in  the  potion  until it was finished. 

That night  I broke my T-shirt  and I put   the potion  on  it, then  I opened  the door  quickly  and I put  it in  the  face  of  the security man. I took  his  knife. I ran  very quickly and I killed  the chief  because he tried to trap me, then  I ran  to  the  forest   because  I didn't  know   where  to  go , but  I was   free .

-WHY ARE YOU HERE?  My friends  were there and they knew  that I will escape  and I will go with them.

ERASMUS+ THIRD MOBILITY WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 31ST OF MARCH TO 7TH OF APRIL WITH 5 STUDENTS FROM 4TH ESO ACCOMPANIED BY THE ENGLISH TEACHERS MARGA HERRERO AND CARMELA LLANEZA.

tHEY WILL BE ABLE TO PUT THEIR INTERNATIONAL SKILLS INTO PRACTICE IN GULPEN, HOLLAND AND THEY WILL MEET STUDENTS FROM ITALY, 2 GERMAN SCHOOLS, HOLLAND AND ITALY.

WE WILL ALL VISIT SOME UNIVERSITY COLLEGES AND SOME ENTERPRISES WHO ARE WILLING TO COLLABORATE.

NEXT YEAR, THE MOBILITIES WILL BE TO ENGER IN GERMANY, SWINDON IN U.K. AND UTEBO IN SPAIN.

THESE KIND OF ERASMUS LAST FOR 2 YEARS AND ARE VERY MOTIVATING FOR OUR STUDENTS. THEREFORE, I AM VERY SATISFIED, AS THE HEAD OF THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT TO HAVE BEEN INVITED TOGETHER WITH INES SANCHO BY THE DUTCH SCHOOL TO PARTICIPATE IN SOMETHING THEY HAD ALREADY PREPARED IN COLLABORATION WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HULL, IN ENGLAND.

STILL TODAY, SOME PEOPLE TALK IT, AND SOME TEACHERS TOO LIKE FERNANDO ROMANOS (FOL), DANIEL GONZALEZ (ENGLISH TEACHER) OR RICARDO CERVERA (HISTORY).

THEY LOVE IT, SO THEY TEACH US EVERY MONDAY, DURING THE 1ST BREAK. THEY BRING POEMS AND BOOKS WRITTEN IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE OLD VALLEYS IN THE PYRINEES.

MY BIRTHDAY PARTY.....

IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY LAST WEEK AND I REALLY ENJOYED RECEIVING MESSAGES FROM EVERYBODY, TEACHERS, PUPILS, FRIENDS, RELATIVES. I GOT OVER 100 !!!

IN THE EVENING, I ORGANIZED A PARTY FOR EVERYBODY TO ME ROUND AND HAVE A TOSS TO MY HEALTH AND GOOD LUCK FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR......!

THE ELECTRONICS TEACHERS PLAYED IN 2 DIFFERENT BANDS IN SALA CREDENCE AND WE COULD CHAT, SING AND DANCE FOR A LONG TIME WITH GOOD HAM AND TAPAS.

DAY FOR MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGES

ON THE 21ST IT WAS THE DAY FOR THE MOTHER TONGUE LANGUAGES, SO TODAY, WE HAVE BEEN READING SOME LOVELY POEMS IN ARAGONESE FOR RECREARTE PROJECT.

IT WAS VERY INTERESTING TO LISTEN TO SOME LANGUAGE WHICH WE CAN'T TOTALLY UNDERSTAND.

ALSO, MARGA HAS READ A POEM BY ROBERT BURNS WHO IS A SCOTTISH POEM WRITER WHO ALWAYS WROTE POEMS IN HIS MOTHER TONGUE.

HIS MOST POPULAR POEM IS A TRADITIONAL FOLK MUSIC SONG NOW THAT WE HAVE HEARD A LOT IN FILMS: "AULS LANG SYNE".

PRIVATE SCHOOLS BY NATALIA VILLALBA- 2 BTO

Private schools are allowed to expel students and can choose not to allow certain students admission. In fact, many private schools are difficult to get into. Public schools allow all students, regardless of religious creed, academic abilities, or any other factor.

Sending your child to a private school means enrollment is selective and demands are uniformly higher versus a public school where they will be exposed to a wider variety of people and abilities. In today's world, both are likely to incorporate students from various cultures and backgrounds.

In most areas, your children will attend public school with other kids from the same area. However, a number of provinces are moving toward a policy where you can request a change if you desire.

When parents choose a private school, they often do so based on their desire to give their children a specific peer group, whether that is based on discipline, cultural or religious background, or philosophical beliefs.

In most private schools, students are excluded or expelled if they do not adhere to the school's policies or standards.

In my opinion if I were a parent, i need to decide for themself. Visit schools and see what the schools and teachers are like. We think the option of private school is a good one and gives parents alternatives they may want to pursue in finding the right education for their children.

1.- What do you know about St Valentine??  He was an important bishop who helped couples in the Medieval ages.

2.- What is St Valentine's Day? A perfect day to spend money and a perfecxt they for companies to earn money, that is to say, a commercial day for consumerism.

3.- What would you write in a Valentine's card? ehmmm, I would never write a card, I'd write a text message

4.- What message would you write? I LOVE  U !!

5.- What is the most romantic song for you? " All of me" by John Legend.

6.- What is the best gift according to you ? ... spend the day together !!

7.- Is Valentine's day a bad day for people who aren't good-looking? Everybody has his other half !!

8.- Should every day be  'Valentine day' ??  Yes, we should show our love every day one way or the other.

CHAIME BERNAL IN THE USA !!

We are very happy to have some news from Chaime Bernal:


It has been 5 months and 15 days since I got here and the only thing I can say it's that time flies,

no one is conscious about it.

These months that I've been here are being just amazing. I cannot describe what I'm living, to live in such a different culture than yours is just AMAZING.

In spite of having a few hard times, (you're homesick, you can't adapt yourself to the place at the beginning...) you enjoy, you learn, you LIVE something that you will not live again.

So many new people, so many new friends, so many adventures... and the most important thing, the experience, the experience of being away of your home and make  Rockport, Massachussets my home.

If I had  to grade my exchange in 1 to 10 I'd say 11.

I will not live this experience again, that's why I'm taking advantage of every and single moment.
