NOT MANY PEOPLE LIKES PHILOSOPHY , HOWEVER, OUR BTO STUDENTS HAVE THE OPTION OF CHOOSING IT IN BTO. IT IS NOT COMPULSORY ANY MORE.

AND OF COURSE, THEY LOVE THEIR LESSONS WITH THE TEACHER J.L. RODRIGUEZ, WHO MAKES THEM THINK, REFLECT,. ARGUMENT AND CONCLUDE.

I HAD THE CHANCE TO WATCH THEM WHILE DOING THE GLOBAL EXAM AND I DECIDED TO TRANSLATE THE TEXT BY ARISTOTLE. HAVE A LOOK. YOU MAY LIKE IT.

ETHICS TO NICOMACO

Having then two virtue ways, one of understanding and one of our habits, the first one was born from the doctrine and it grows with the doctrine, therefore, it needs time and experience; however, moral comes from habits, from which it acquired its name, almost deriving from this Greek name: Ethos which means habit in that language.

All in all , we guess that none of the moral virtues is in us naturally, because no thing from from the ones which are in a determined way naturally, can by habit become any different: Take the example of a stone, which naturally goes down and will never get used to going up by itself even if we try hard to get her used to it, by throwing it up  for a thousand times; nor fire will get used to going down by itself; neither any other thing that is usually naturally made will get used to acting in a different way. Therefore, virtues are not in us naturally or unnaturally but rather on the contrary, we are naturally apt to acquire them and by habits we confirm them later on.

Besides, in everything that comes to us naturally, we receive their features or potential and then we cause the effects, as it is clearly seen in our senses. It is not because of seeing and hearing many times that we acquired the use of them, or even the fact of having them. However, we obtain virtues by ‘doing’ , as in the other arts.

** ONTOLOGY:

Ontology is the branch of philosophy that studies concepts such as existence, being, becoming, and reality. It includes the questions of how entities are grouped into basic categories and which of these entities exist on the most fundamental level. Ontology is sometimes referred to as the science of being and belongs to the major branch of philosophy known as metaphysics.
